The School




The School of Medicine and Biosciences was established in 2020 at the University of West London to provide a modern, research-driven learning environment. Our undergraduate courses offer an excellent scientific grounding combined with the most up-to-date, industry and sector relevant education in subjects that include Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, and Biological Sciences in line with University's unrivalled record in graduate employment. In addition, we host postgraduate taught courses in Dementia Care, Person-Centred Health and Social Care, and Bioinformatics that attract graduates working in range of settings including the NHS and industry.


We are looking for colleagues to join us whose expertise aligns with the School's priority areas and who can make a significant contribution to our teaching and knowledge exchange activities. Members of the School are expected to play an active role in teaching that will include engaging with UWL's blended learning platform and developing content and learning material for it, and delivering workshops, seminars, lectures, and laboratory practicals. Members within the School are research active within areas that include translational medicine, cancer biology, antibiotics resistance, microbial genomics, bioinformatics, and dementia. We are seeking a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer with teaching expertise in Microbiology.

We welcome applications from individuals who do not have a fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Should you be successful and do not hold an HEA fellowship you will be asked to complete one within 2 years of appointment as a condition of your continued employment. Depending on eligibility this may take the form of an advanced Level 7 apprenticeship in teaching which means that you will spend 20% of your work in off-the-job study.


This post is also available as a part time position.

Applicants must hold or be close to completing a PhD in a relevant field with a demonstrable track record of research within the field.
