Birkbeck, University of London is seeking a Lecturer in Psychoanalytic Studies/Psychosocial Studies to join our interdisciplinary and critical School of Social Sciences for 18 months. You will be part of a vibrant Subject Group that includes Sociology, Psychosocial and Psychoanalytic studies, and Health and Social Care. As part of our Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty, you will have the opportunity to engage in both teaching and research, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in your field.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the intellectual future of our diverse student cohort, teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate courses. You will also contribute to our exciting research culture and environment.
You will lead on the teaching, assessment and delivery on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Psychoanalytic and Psychosocial Studies including modules in Psychoanalysis and Culture, Love, Hate, and Psychoanalytic Theory.
As a Lecturer, you will:
Teach and inspire students across various settings, from small tutorials to large lectures
Deliver engaging teaching materials and methods
Supervise student projects and provide academic guidance
Participate in outreach and engagement activities to enhance public understanding of your discipline.
The ideal Lecturer will have a background and teaching experience in psychoanalytic and psychosocial theory and its application to culture and society.
In addition, we are looking for someone with:
A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
Experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
A commitment to diversity and the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds.
The position is a 0.5 FTE role, fixed-term for 18 months and will be on the College's Teaching and Education pathway.

Contract
This role is offered on a 18 month fixed-term basis. This is a part-time role, working 17.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE) and will be on the College's Teaching and Education pathway.

Salary and benefits
22,123 rising to 30,429 pro-rata per annum (44,247 rising to 60,858 per annum full time equivalent).
