Lecturer in Textiles (0.6 FTE)

in the

Department of Fashion & Textiles, School of Design.








The person we are looking for will co-work with the Textile Design team within the School of Design to provide a challenging and supportive, student-centred learning experience for students on the programme, providing creative, ethical and inclusive teaching within our specialist subject areas.





They will play an important role in all aspects of delivering and enhancing the programme with regard to learning, teaching, assessment and feedback. They will be joining and supporting a dynamic and caring staff team, teaching and promoting an innovative and specialist curriculum with a focus on printed textiles.





The person we are looking for will take responsibility for aspects of curriculum development and lead on the coordination of printed textiles. They may also take on a student-facing Year Lead role as required - supporting students as they navigate their journey through textile design education and develop their creative individuality.





The person we are looking for will have experience of teaching Textile Design and an interest in collaborative teaching practices within creative education.






We are seeking individuals committed to engaging students in contemporary textile practices, supporting them to consider their work within wider industrial, cultural, ethical and material contexts.





We are reaching out to candidates with an excellent understanding of current debates and issues relating to the subject area and printed textiles specialism, who will be educated to degree level (which is essential), and ideally hold a postgraduate qualification (which is desirable).





The person we are looking for will be an active practice-based researcher or practitioner with a developing or established profile in the field, and the ambition and ability to contribute to the School's research, enterprise and or knowledge exchange activities. They will be interested in connecting their own research and or creative practice with their teaching practice.
