About the role




We seek enthusiastic individuals to join Mechanical Engineering. You will embed into one of our existing research groups and may also contribute to the newly formed Southampton Advanced Manufacturing and Design Hub (SAMDH). Your expertise will be aligned to strategic growth areas of advanced manufacturing, clean energy industries, defence, digital technologies or life sciences, specifically:

Future mobility, automotive wear, dynamics and propulsion, including future fuels and their storage/applications. Thermofluidic and cryogenic systems, including storage, transport and energy applications. Advanced manufacturing, production, and design, including data centric and AI assisted design. Mechatronics and bio-engineering, including control systems, soft sensors and actuators, robotics, tissue surrogates, foams, stretchable electronics or e-skins etc.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:
