About the Candidate




We are seeking a highly creative and versatile specialist, with expertise across

Games, Animation, and VFX

, and the ability to lead, inspire, and support learners from Level 3 to Level 6.The successful candidate will be an excellent teaching practitioner, able to deliver engaging sessions with high expectations that enthuse, inspire, and stretch learners. You will monitor progress effectively, support student success, and prepare them for progression into employment or higher-level study.



Our facilities include industry-standard classrooms, an Innovation Centre with an Immersive 360 Igloo, and a Motion Capture studio, providing cutting-edge resources to enhance teaching and learning.

About the Role





An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and skilled

Lecturer and Programme Lead in NextGen: Game Art and Business Development

to deliver and lead on our thriving Games, Animation and VFX provision, spanning Level 3 through to Higher Education (Level 6).


Based at our Bede Campus within the Arts Academy, the successful candidate will teach, assess, and lead high-quality programmes, shaping the next generation of creative talent and connecting learners with the best skills development and employment opportunities in the region.


You will work closely with

NextGen Skills Academy

and industry partners to ensure our provision remains innovative, industry-relevant, and aligned to current sector demands.

Role Responsibilities





Key requirements include:

Teaching, Learning & Assessment Expertise

across Further and Higher Education, supporting students in coursework development, academic writing, research skills, and exam preparation.

Programme Leadership and IQA Experience

to ensure programmes are well organised, compliant, and delivered to the highest standards.

Industry-Relevant Skills

, including: + 3D modelling and game art workflows (asset creation, sculpting, UV unwrapping, texturing, baking, rendering).
+ Animation (2D and 3D) for both games and film, including rigging, technical animation, and engine integration.
+ Real-time VFX design and implementation for games.
+ Knowledge of sound integration, worldbuilding, storytelling, and narrative design.

Industry Awareness

, with in-depth knowledge of Games, Animation and VFX production pipelines, project management, marketing, and job roles.

Business Development Expertise

, particularly in indie game development, pitching, financing, and entrepreneurship.

Software Proficiency

with Adobe Creative Suite, Maya, Blender, Unity, Substance Painter (or equivalents).

Collaboration Skills

, with confidence in engaging industry partners, delivering masterclasses, coordinating live briefs, arranging work placements, and integrating industry feedback into teaching.

Qualifications




A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential; applicants without one must be willing to work towards it.
