The UCL Institute for Global Health (IGH) is one of 82 Departments at UCL. Our mission is to improve health worldwide through research and education. We comprise 160 research, teaching and professional services staff, and have an annual research income in excess of 21M.



We focus on conducting impactful research that informs health policies and practices, tackling the biggest health challenges facing the world. We have strong long-standing partnerships with researchers, patients, communities, health care providers and policymakers in the UK, other parts of Europe, across Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, and South America.



In Education, our aim is to train the next generation of health and research leaders. Our postgraduate programmes include the MSc Global Health and Development, the MSc Health Economics and Decision Science, and the MSc Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology. An MSc in Global Mental Health is starting in 2026. We have 50 students on PhD programmes and contribute to teaching medical students.



We are looking to appoint a Lecturer (teaching) in Global Public Health.


About the role


------------------


The post holder will be responsible for co-developing teaching materials and recruitment strategies for the newly approved Professional Doctorate (DrPH) in Global Health that is due to start in September 2027. The post holder will also contribute to other IGH education priorities, teaching lectures and tutorials across other related modules in collaboration with other tutors.



This is a full-time maternity cover post, available for 12 months from February 2026 until January 2027.



Salary range: 54,931 to 64,644 per annum (including London Allowance), depending on experience.

About you


-------------


The postholder should have a PhD in public health, global health, or similar field or equivalent experience.



The successful candidate must have a strong track record of teaching and experience of development, implementation, organisation and coordination of research-led teaching activity at university level in epidemiology, statistics, public health, interventions, leadership and organisation or closely related subjects with demonstrable proof of student satisfaction.



The ability to communicate effectively in English in both verbal and written form, with people across a range of academic and cultural backgrounds, as well as excellent lecturing and presentation skills are also essential requirements for the post.
