The Department of Computing is based within the rapidly expanding Worcester Business School at the University of Worcester City Campus. Over the past year the School has experienced growing numbers of students joining our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. As a result, we are seeking to complement our team with an experienced Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Computer Science. The University of Worcester is ranked joint first in the UK for quality education (Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2025) and our graduates have the highest rate of sustained employment, further study or both, from any multidisciplinary university in the UK (Longitudinal Education Outcomes Survey 2017-25). Worcester is a beautiful cathedral city, located around 40 minutes south of Birmingham; the UK's second city.
The Department of Computing conducts research across several themes including Machine Learning, Data Science, Intelligent Interactive Systems, Computing in Education and of course Cyber Security. The Department also hosts the Digital Innovation and Intelligent Systems Research Group. Depending on qualifications and experience, we are able to offer this opportunity on either a Standard Academic Contacts (SAC) to include teaching and academic research or a Teaching Only Contract (TOC). For SAC, the successful candidate will hold (or be within 12 months of full completion of) a PhD in a related Computer Science field. For TOC, the successful Candidate will hold a Masters' Degree in a related Computer Science field and a recognised teaching qualification and/or fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (HEA / Advance HE).
In addition, candidates are expected to have contemporary subject knowledge and/or experience of professional practice in several of the following areas:
