Job Description

The Councils Regulatory and Enforcement team is expanding and is looking to appoint a legal assistant to support and enhance its litigation work.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

The Regulatory and Enforcement Team handles a wide range of matters, including civil and criminal litigation and selective licensing. Its work is a key component in delivering the Councils strategic vision and priorities.



Working closely with Councillors and with officers across the whole range of the Councils activities, you will carry your own workload providing legal advice, assistance and advocacy and also assist Lawyers in the team with more complex matters. You may be required to conduct matters in the civil and criminal courts, and to attend Council committees. You will also undertake work for schools and other bodies.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You should have 4 GCSE Grade A-C or equivalent (academic subjects including English) and a recognised legal qualification either obtained fully or in part or be studying towards such qualification (e.g. law degree, Institute of Legal Executives or Paralegal Association or equivalent); or have significant experience working as a paralegal and/or legal assistant.
