We're looking for driven candidates to join Winn Group for a
Year Long Academic Placement
as a Legal Assistant for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Here, you'll acquire first-hand experience within a legal firm and delve into diverse aspects of the law, gaining invaluable insights along the way.

PI Portal
Costs
Vehicle Damage Pre-Litigation
Vehicle Damage Post-Litigation
Your Responsibilities
As a Legal Assistant, your duties over the academic year will vary depending on the department:
Personal Injury
Duties will include completion of tasks to include but not limited to:
Accurate recording of evidence and or data received from clients and other parties within Proclaim.
Accurate drafting of legal documents.
Undertaking research and valuation of claims in line with judicial guidelines.
Ensure the client obtains the appropriate level of compensation for their personal injury and losses, in accordance with regulations and legislation.
Maximise income per case in accordance with the relevant cost's regime.
Ensure disbursements incurred are appropriate for the progression of a case.
Maximise the recovery of other Winn Group costs, without compromising the best outcome for the client.
PI Portal
Duties will include completion of tasks to include but not limited to:
Chasing insurers and solicitors for payments
Reviewing and valuing medical evidence - tariff only and mixed injuries and calculating losses so that the file is in a position to submit to the OIC.
Chasing Court for notice of issue and hearing dates.
Chasing GP and Hospital records
Reviewing and calculating losses in line with the Claimant's medical report.
Chasing clients for agreement to medical reports, court documents, witness statements and any losses evidence
Costs
Duties will include completion of tasks to include but not limited to:
Preparing Schedules and Bills of Costs, to include Litigation Schedules such as Estimates and Statements of Costs for Trial/ Applications.
Negotiation of Legal Costs and Disbursements.
Issuing Part 7 and Part 8 Proceedings and Making Applications.
Liaising with Legal Teams.
Vehicle Damage (Post-Litigation)
Duties will include completion of tasks to include but not limited to:
Thoroughly preparing cases, securing evidence, and presenting compelling arguments for hire recovery
Optimising case profitability by maximising income through hire, repairs, recovery, and storage.
Ensuring compliance with Court directions
Managing a caseload of litigated claims from issue to hearing or settlement.
Delivering a level of Client Care in accordance with SRA regulations.
Vehicle Damage (Pre-Litigation)
Duties will include administration tasks to assist fee earners, and will include:
Obtaining evidence from the client in relation to liability and any other heads of loss. You will review and assess the strength of the evidence and advise the client accordingly.
Preparing and drafting court proceedings in preparation for litigation and ensuring all documentary evidence in support of the proceedings is on file.
Maximising income per case in accordance with the relevant costs regime
Maximising the recovery of other Winn Group costs, without compromising the best outcome for the client.
Working towards set KPI's and targets.
Work in accordance with the relevant civil procedure rules and case law.

Following on from this, shortlisted candidates will be invited to an assessment centre where you will be given a task from each of our departments. After this, should you be successful, you will then be shortlisted for a department based on your performance during the assessment centre. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to a face-to-face interview with the hiring managers.
