The Role:
We are looking for a fixed term Legal Cashier to join our accounts team to cover a maternity period. The legal cashier will be a hands on and busy role to support employees across the office. The role with work with one other Client Money Legal Cashier, our AP Cashier, Legal Billers and will report into our Finance Manager.
Responsibilities:
Ownership of office personnel expenses. Ensuring timely processing and adherence to office guidelines.
Processing of client and office receipts in line with our firm's processes & policies.
Setting up electronic payments in a timely and organised manner.
Supporting on execution of client money transfers in the absence of the Client Money Legal Cashier, or during busy periods.
Actioning any internal bank transfers as required from client or office account.
Calculating interest due on client account transactions.
Ensure that client balances are returned in a prompt manner.
Ensure we are always compliant with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
Supervising responsibility for AP Cashier.
Supporting the wider accounts team, completing any additional ad hoc tasks as required.
Experience, Skills and personal attributes:
Previous experience in legal cashiering is essential.
A solid understanding of the solicitor's accounts rules.
Previous experience in the legal sector is essential.
SRA/client money experience is essential with office cashiering included such as AP. The ability to demonstrate knowledge of the Solicitors accounts rules would be advantageous.
Experience of using different currencies and an understanding of how those transfer's work.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels.
A commercial and pragmatic outlook.
Ability to demonstrate a flexible and hands-on attitude, responding effectively to rapidly changing circumstances.
Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Demonstrate a positive attitude and be a role model for the team.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
Demonstrate the ability to manage simultaneous workstreams to tight deadlines.
Must be able to work autonomously.
Excellent prioritisation and time management skills.
Qualifications:
Studying AAT or the ILFM cashiering course would be advantageous.
