We are seeking a highly skilled and professional Legal Consultant to join our organisation. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice, support strategic decision-making, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The position is paid and suitable for experienced professionals or recent graduates with a strong interest in legal consultancy.
Duties
1. Providing (Supervised) legal advice Advising clients, companies, or organisations on legal rights, obligations, and risks. Includes specialist advice in property law, contracts, employment, immigration, etc.
2. Drafting / reviewing legal documents Drafting contracts, agreements, deeds, conveyancing papers, or other binding legal instruments. Reviewing and amending legal documents for compliance
3. Legal representation / case handling (within limits) Preparing cases, gathering evidence, liaising with courts, tribunals, or regulators. Representing clients in some legal proceedings if permitted (e.g. conveyancers, litigation executives, patent attorneys).
4. Legal research & interpretation Analysing legislation, case law, and regulatory frameworks to apply to client/employer situations.
5. Supervising or supporting legal assistants.
6. Liaising with regulators, government bodies, or external legal professionals.
7. Public legal education / advisory work
8. Negotiating settlements or agreements.
Salary - 35,000 P/A
Skills Required
? Strong legal knowledge - typically in a specialist area
? Regulatory awareness - understanding relevant UK and EU regulations, plus sector-specific rules.
? Drafting and reviewing - ability to prepare, analyse, and amend contracts, policies, and compliance documents.
? Advisory expertise - translating complex legal issues into clear, practical advice for clients.
? Research skills - keeping up-to-date with case law, statutes, and regulatory changes.
? Problem-solving - tailoring legal solutions to business objectives.
? Attention to detail - precision in drafting, compliance checks, and due diligence.
? Negotiation - supporting or leading contract negotiations.
? A Law degree (LLB) or equivalent; may also have LPC/SQE
? Professional memberships (e.g. Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, CILEX) can strengthen credibility.
? Having a degree-level academic qualification that was taught in English - if they studied abroad, they'll need to apply through Ecctis (formerly UK NARIC) for confirmation that their qualification is equivalent to a UK bachelor's degree, master's degree or PhD
