The RSM UK In-House Legal Team enjoys a varied and dynamic workload, supporting RSM by proactively resolving legal, regulatory and risk management issues and driving commercial improvements. The Team currently comprises 11 lawyers and 2 paralegals and has dedicated administrative support.


We are looking for a Legal Counsel within the disputes side of the In-House Legal Team, based in the London or Manchester offices and reporting to the Head of Dispute Resolution.


You will work with RSM's Audit, Tax and Consulting Service Lines, as well as Core Functions, to help manage risk and advise on wide-ranging issues. You will have the opportunity to work closely with RSM's senior management on specific issues and longer-term projects.



You'll make an impact by:

Advising on and handling claims, drafting pre-action correspondence, preserving material/collation of evidence and managing each claim to its conclusion. Responding to regulatory inquiries and providing strategic legal input on matters involving bodies such as the FRC, FCA and ICAEW. Advising on issues such as Production Orders, Schedule 36 notices, anti-money laundering compliance, UK GDPR and FOIA requests, and advising on and undertaking internal investigations. Identifying learnings and sharing knowledge to improve processes and protect the business.

Approximately 5-10 years of post-qualification experience.

Strong experience handling high-value, complex litigation and/or contentious regulatory matters, either in private practice or in an in-house role.

Technically strong and able to form well-reasoned arguments and apply knowledge/analytical skills to new scenarios.

Forms a deep commercial awareness of the firm's strategy and activities and uses that awareness to add value and to support the success of the business.
