Job Summary

We are seeking for an intelligent, seasoned, energetic and motivated candidate to fulfill this new role \xe2\x80\x93 Legal Director, Regulatory, Sustainability. You will primarily be responsible for providing the main regulatory and legal guidance and support on sustainability-related regulations and policies and collaborating with the central sustainability team at Equinix, known as the Sustainability Program Office (\xe2\x80\x9cSPO\xe2\x80\x9d) as we continue to develop our sustainability programs and refine our ESG reporting. You will be providing strategic input on our sustainability policy, due diligence, governance and reporting issues. You will collaborate with attorneys, both internally and externally (as and when required) and work cross-functionally to develop innovative solutions as part of Equinix\xe2\x80\x99s Future First sustainability strategy. You will scan the regulatory and legal landscape and provide day-to-day guidance on existing and emerging regulations and advise on upcoming global regulatory and legal changes and enforcement trends including in new areas of law and relevance to our business. You will develop and improve internal policies, procedures and capabilities, including working cross-functionally with our public policy and compliance teams as well as the SPO, accounting, finance, investor relations, HR, Global Procurement, Global Operations and Global Design & Construction teams.

Responsibilities

Provide regulatory and legal guidance and support to the business across all 3 regions, with a focus on the regulatory and compliance issues under existing or emerging regulations on corporate sustainability directives such as climate change, regulated and/or voluntary reporting obligations

Collaborate with the public policy and compliance teams within One Legal to coordinate for an overall global regulatory guidance framework for the business

Coordinating, collating and preparing inputs from all relevant internal stakeholders on draft regulatory policies pertaining to sustainability-related topics and ensuring complete and successful implementation and/or adoption of approved regulatory policies at all relevant levels within the Company, be it globally and/or in-region specifically

Identify opportunities/potential risks to the Equinix business, work closely with senior members of the legal team and other internal stakeholders such as the SPO responsible for implementation, and drive regulatory affairs improvement initiatives, including designing a framework, programs and policies in compliance with sustainability-related regulations, the Company\xe2\x80\x99s Future First sustainability strategy and initiatives and applicable ESG reporting standards

Maintain existing and implement new regulatory databases and ensure clear and concise regulatory inputs are updated timely to enable operational compliance and excellence

Be sensitive and stay updated on the global regulatory landscape and emerging regulatory policies and trends in the sustainability space in order to contribute to, impact and analyse opportunities for the Company

Conducting presentations, training and educating the business team members on the regulatory and compliance framework, programs and policies

Managing external consultants and advisors globally when necessary or when external regulatory and/or legal input is required to provide regulatory and/or legal support for the business activities

Functioning as part of a global legal team, including engaging with other departments, providing input on regulatory and legal issues, undertaking any global projects, initiatives, deals, corporate or other commercial transactions as may arise or be assigned

Qualifications

Extensive years of PQE as a regulatory or legal lawyer with solid post qualification experience in two or more areas directly relevant to this role as identified in the \xe2\x80\x98Responsibilities\xe2\x80\x99 section above

In-house experience will be viewed favourably but is not essential

Experience in counselling companies on sustainability, ESG reporting (Energy Efficiency, Carbon and water reporting, EU Taxonomy, etc..) for US listed companies and/or companies in the EU, preferably in the information technology, digital infrastructure and/or data center industry

Experience of working in an international or global business organization is preferred

Strong organizational, analytical, leadership, and collaboration skills

Adaptable, flexible, pragmatic and solution-oriented, you must be willing to work and collaborate with the business to address tough challenges in the digital and information age and to create innovative solutions to complex requirements and issues in order to help Equinix build and deploy innovative products and services globally

Ability and drive to take initiative and ownership of projects and tasks

Strong communication and relationship building skills, and experience (internal or external) working with other business focused personnel is essential

Strong attention to detail

Strong ability to organize and prioritize tasks and workload, and good administrative skills

Ability to work with tight deadlines

Strong ability to take a pragmatic and commercial approach

Ability to multi-task and work with limited supervision

General working knowledge of financial spreadsheets, accounting rules (revenue recognition etc.) is desirable

Proficient presentation skills and general working knowledge of databases, e.g., Access databases etc

IT proficient in relation to all MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint packages, and good typing

Location

Located in any Equinix Europe office, and prepared to travel for work assignments
