Job Description

Based in Southport Brighouses is a friendly and broad-based Law Firm founded by Sir Samuel Brighouse in the 1870s. The business has grown significantly over recent years and is seeking a legal secretary to assist in the day-to-day progression of files, office administration and management of lawyers' diaries, calls and internal administration.

To succeed in this role, you will need effective administration and communication skills as well as good time management including the ability to work under pressure. In addition, a caring and empathetic approach towards both clients and colleagues is required. The successful candidate will also need to be organised, motivated and proactive. Attention to detail and good teamwork and cooperation are also vital.

Your role will include:



Liaising with clients, third parties (such as HMRC, OPG, Probate Registry, Beneficiaries and Attorneys) as well as colleagues in a courteous and helpful manner Handling first line client queries Typing dictated letters, documents and notes Undertaking due diligence and research on identification Attending upon clients for administrative matters Diary management and arranging meetings Preparation of correspondence, complex documentation, client care letters, terms and conditions and ensuring all templates/precedents are up to date Proactively supporting lawyers in file reviews and liaising with Risk and Compliance on Audit Preparing bills and supporting lawyers in proactively managed WIP and aged debt Assisting with risk and compliance elements associated with case work Ensuring internal procedures are applied and followed relating to each file Assuming key role within the department to enhance client service, efficiencies and ensuring the smooth running of the overall team Updating external websites and portals on matters, as and when required

You will have:



Excellent organisational skills and a committed attitude An ability to communicate clearly and accurately to different third parties Use of initiative Excellent telephone manner Familiarity with audio typing techniques Effective time management skills Good working knowledge of legal work Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar administrative role within a legal environment is preferred Attention to detail and a commitment to always maintaining confidentiality

Monday to Friday (9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.)
