Job Description

We are a small boutique family law firm looking to recruit a legal secretary to join our busy practice in Ayr. We are keen to hear from both full-time and part-time candidates. The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience of working in a fast paced office where accuracy and attention to detail is critical. Applicants who have experience of civil court work will be welcomed. Experience in family law work and the preparation of wills and Powers of Attorney would also be desirable. However, full training will be given. We are looking for a highly organised individual with strong communication skills, who is confident in dealing with clients and able to work under pressure. Good IT skills, including typing accurately and at speed is expected.

Our office hours are Monday to Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-4.45pm. Job Responsibilities

.Typing, including audio dictation, with a high level of accuracy and speed

Filing, both hard copies and electronically using our case management system (Lawware)

Organising client meetings and the gathering of all necessary information from clients in advance of their meetings

Preparation of all draft documentation requested by the solicitor using system styles

Registering legal documents online, using the Office of the Public Guardian and Registers of Scotland websites

Drafting legal aid application and accounts online using the legal aid online website

Assisting with mail and general office duties

Dealing with telephone enquires; and

Generally assisting and supporting solicitors with their work as needed.

Computer skills, including case management software

Office experience

Salary dependent on skills and experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 22,750.00-23,660.00 per year

Expected hours: 21 - 35 per week
