The Role
The purpose of the role is to provide support to the Design and Construction teams by handling administrative tasks related to land rights. This role involves maintaining records, coordinating meetings, and assisting with documentation and communication with relevant stakeholders, to help provide a smooth legal process.
Our Engineering Support Officers assist the Sales & Tendering, Design and Construction teams by undertaking general administrative tasks and provide simple CAD drawing assistance associated with the legal agreements required on our projects.
Generally, the tasks will be clerical or of low technical input and ultimate responsibility will lie with the Design Engineers and Regional/Project Managers or other functional managers allocating the work. Full training will be provided on all aspects of the role.
Each individual ESO will be tasked with a selection of duties from the range below, although you will develop an understanding of all tasks over time, as your experience increases. Once an underlying understanding of HVSS and the wider utility industry has been achieved, there may be opportunities to progress within the business.
Key Responsibilities
Liaison with landowners' legal teams, external legal facilitators and network's legal teams
Complete standard land registry and highway adoption searches
Complete the legals assessment for required projects
Create legal plans on AutoCAD
Providing management reports and monitoring of performance with respect to project and programme legal progress and performance
Support internal hand over meetings by confirming land rights / legal requirements
Liaise with and monitor costs of legal facilitators by project and programme of work
Respond to enquiries and chase correspondence between all parties and provide regular updates as required by all
Support data management for internal and external reporting
Liaise with and gather information from external field-based operations to ensure systems are updated
Update and maintain key company databases
Proactively escalate problems to the Senior members of the team
Work within guidance of the company policies and procedures
Maintain a record of CPD to enable learning and progression
Any duties deemed necessary by your Line Manager
Experience & Qualities
Essential:
Experience working in an office environment

Good communication skills both verbal and written
General computer literacy with the ability to use Microsoft Office applications
Desirable:
Working knowledge of the utility industry
Knowledge and experience in Land Rights
Experience with using Google Sheets
Previous knowledge of 2D CAD drawings - although full training will be given
Ability to prioritise work activity to deliver business requirements
Work flexibly either under supervision or on own initiative as required
