YOUR IMPACT
Your role will be to lead the Goldman Sachs UK Corporate Governance Team. As an experienced Corporate Lawyer, you will manage our team of corporate governance professionals based in London and Birmingham, working closely with our Head of International Corporate Governance.
Your primary focus will be to provide corporate governance legal and regulatory advice and to oversee the management of corporate governance processes for a large number of Goldman SachsaEUR(TM) entities in EMEA including regulated investment firms, banks and asset management entities, as well as branches and unregulated entities. You will support our most material UK regulated entities, although given the cross border footprint of Goldman Sachs, the role also involves handling corporate governance matters in a number of jurisdictions, including in the Middle East.
The role requires the ability to work independently from day one, to manage a diverse and complex workload meeting tight deadlines, as well as managing the performance of the UK Corporate Governance function. As the head of the team, you will work closely with a diverse group of senior stakeholders across our businesses and control side functions and thrive on the pressures of delivering consistently high quality professional services in a dynamic and constantly evolving business environment.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/COMPENTENCIES
We are targeting English qualified lawyers with good knowledge of company law and corporate governance regulation (although other legal qualifications will be considered).
The candidate should have 5+ yearsaEUR(TM) experience either in a law firm or as in house counsel, ideally within a regulated financial institution.
Experience of managing teams is especially useful, as is experience of managing material transactions/implementing major projects
We are looking for a team player who is dynamic and capable of working proactively with a wide range of stakeholders on a variety of issues in a fast-paced environment
The work will involve exposure to various senior stakeholders and requires gravitas, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills
