We have a fantastic opportunity to join our small, friendly team here at Shirley Swimming Pool, to start or further your career in the leisure industry. We are an independent and family-run, dedicated swim school, for babies all the way up to adults, with everything in between.
We are looking for a Leisure Receptionist who is motivated, friendly, and happiest when working with people. You will join our front-of-house team, providing excellent customer service to our existing members, responding to new customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner, and ensuring the reception and changing areas are maintained to a high standard at all times. We are looking for a candidate that can build rapport with members, enjoys working in a child-based environment and has a keen eye for detail.
Experience in a similar role is desirable, however, we do provide full training for the for our software programmes This role includes monitoring the pool so lifesaving skills is a must, we fund employee courses for Pool rescue / first aid. We provide ongoing monthly training, as well as opportunities to train in other areas of the leisure industry, such as pool plant operations and swimming teaching. You will also be trained up in our Cafe, serving snacks & drinks. Essential skills for the role include a good swimming ability, computer literacy, and confidence when communicating with others.
As a leisure receptionist, following your training, you will be required to be the first responder should an incident occur, and must be willing to administer first aid.
The role is permanent and we are looking for a candidate that wants to stay with us. Part time position, immediate start and shifts will be a mixture of mornings, afternoons, evenings & weekends, however some shifts may be able to be picked up during the week. As we are open all year round, we need applicants to be able to work during holiday times. Please do not apply if you are only available to work during term times.

Leisure Receptionists also carry out opening & closing shifts, where you'll be single manning the pool for the first or last hour or two and then locking up and securing the premises. Would you be happy to do this once trained up?
Due to the environment of the role and being a first aider, you must be a strong swimmer. in case of an emergency in the pool. Are you a strong swimmer and would you be happy to attend a fully funded lifesaving course (i.e Lifeguard / Emergency Pool responder)?
