We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and energetic candidate to work towards their Leisure Team Member apprenticeship. There are key areas of work leisure team members cover - leisure and fitness operations, lifeguard duties, swimming teaching duties, gym instruction, leading group activities, amongst other operational duties.
The apprenticeship typically takes 18-24 months to complete, working a minimum of 30 hours per week (including training/ college hours).
The successful candidate will achieve the following qualifications during the apprenticeship:
NPLQ National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
First Aid
Swim Teacher Level 1
Swim Teacher Level 2
Fitness Instructor Level 2
Your duties will include:
Providing exceptional customer service to all members
Assisting with gym tours and inductions
Showing members how to use the gym equipment and machines
Creating personal exercise plans for members
Understanding health, safety, and welfare in a fitness environment
Supporting and motivating clients who take part in physical activity
Covering Lifeguard positions
Safe and effective pool supervision
Supporting the centre swim teaching team to deliver exceptional swimming lessons
Equipment setups safely and on time
Adopting a customer service focussed approach to your responsibilities
Effective communication with other team members
Apprenticeship Standard:
Leisure Team Member Level 2 Apprenticeship.
Between 18 to 24 months Apprenticeship.
You will be required to complete off-the-job training. This includes time spent learning new skills, attending courses, or carrying out support tasks that fall outside your usual day-to-day responsibilities.
Maths and English Functional Skills if not previously achieved at a grade C/4 or above.
Weekly attendance at The Isle of Wight College as part of the apprenticeship.
Wage:
7.55 per hour.
Additional information below:
The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is 7.55 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
