We're looking for a Buildings Supervisor to join us on the North York Moors where you'll work as part of a team to help us manage our diverse let estate portfolio.
This job is full time, permanent, with a salary range of 34,000 to 38,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
What it's like to work here:Working with us, no two days are the same. You could be out on site specifying cottage refurbishments, investigating reactive repairs, overseeing track works, troubleshooting tricky private water supply problems or in the office maintaining compliance paperwork.
You'll look after a small part-time team of General Tradespeople as well as managing contractors and working alongside colleagues from other teams. You'll make sure that all work is conducted safely, using the right materials and methods
Your contractual location will be our head office in North York Moors, based at Smout House, Fadmoor, York YO62 7JL and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.
What you'll be doing:You'll be responsible the day-to-day maintenance and repair of our Let Estate buildings and Holiday Cottages on the North York Moors, Yorkshire Coast and in the City of York, with a few outposts in Teesside and Hull.
We're looking for someone with a practical, trade or professional background. If you have a specific trade or profession and want to keep your hand in, let us know and we'll do our best to build it into your workload.

You have in depth knowledge of the building trade, with the ability to win the respect of colleagues, contractors and tenants. You take a hands-on, lead-from-the-front approach, solving problems and prioritising competing tasks.
Your communication and co-ordination skills are strong, enabling you to get materials, contractors and colleagues to the right place at the right time, enabling you to manage works and small projects on time and on budget
You've got a sound understanding of relevant construction legislation, and managing key risks such as asbestos and electrical safety, as well as an understanding of different construction materials and their impact on historic buildings
You're computer literate, using email, word, excel, messaging systems and a bespoke property management system.
You can manage the welfare, development, safety and workload of our small-but-dedicated team.
