Early Years Practitioner
Little Haven Childcare is a nursery; that is well resourced and oversubscribed, based in a beautiful Church in Archway. We have a genuinely happy atmosphere with staff that work well together. We are looking for a Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to join our team.
This is a permanent full-time or part-time position; you will be taking care of children aged 6 months - 4 years. A key part of the role is planning, implementing and evaluating high quality, flexible and exciting educational activities for children aged 6 months - 4 years.
Working hours:
Monday to Friday 40 hours a week
Responsible to:
Managing Director, Deputy Manager and Early Years Lead
Qualifications and Experience:
Level 2/ 3 qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent.
Paediatric First Aid certification.
Good communication skills and proficiency in the written and spoken English language.
Good knowledge of and commitment to working in accordance with current legal and statutory frameworks, policies, and procedures
Purpose of the Job Role:
The Level 2/ 3 Early Years Practitioner is responsible for delivering high-quality care and education to children, ensuring their emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The role involves working as part of a dedicated Early Years team to create a stimulating and safe environment for children aged 3 months to 5 years, promoting their learning and growth.
Main Responsibilities
1. Child Development and Learning:
Plan and deliver an inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of all children, ensuring activities are stimulating, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.
Observe and assess children's progress regularly, documenting their development and planning next steps.
Support children's individual learning styles, ensuring each child's needs are met through differentiated approaches.
Encourage children's curiosity, independence, and creativity through both indoor and outdoor activities.
Safeguarding and Child Well-being:
Safeguard children's welfare, ensuring the nursery's safeguarding policies and procedures are followed.
Foster a nurturing and secure environment for all children, promoting positive behaviour and encouraging healthy social and emotional development.
Promote personal hygiene and support children with daily routines such as meal times, nappy changing, and personal care.
Attend safeguarding training and ensure knowledge and awareness are kept up to date.
2. Health, Safety, and Hygiene:
Ensure children's health, safety, and well-being are maintained at all times.
Follow health and safety regulations, including food hygiene, accident reporting, and cleanliness standards.
Encourage children to follow good hygiene practices, including handwashing and healthy eating habits.
3. Parent and Carer Engagement:
Build strong relationships with parents and caregivers, maintaining open lines of communication about their child's progress and well-being.
Provide regular feedback to parents through daily conversations, written reports, and parents' evenings.
Encourage parental involvement in nursery activities, workshops, and events to enhance children's learning experiences.
4. Nursery Operations:
Set up and maintain the learning environment, ensuring that resources and equipment are available and in good condition.
Assist in the management of daily routines, ensuring a structured and calm atmosphere.
Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure a high standard of care and education is maintained.
Assist in preparing and participating in events such as outings, activities, or special celebrations.
5. Professional Development:
Participate in ongoing training, development, and appraisals to continually improve practice.
Keep up to date with the latest developments in early years education, safeguarding, and health and safety.
Support and mentor less experienced staff or apprentices within the team.
Nursery Policies and Procedures:
Adhere to all nursery policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Ofsted requirements and other regulatory standards.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the nursery, providing feedback on policies and procedures as required.
6. Safeguarding:
To comply with safeguarding policies, procedures, and the staff code of conduct
To demonstrate a personal commitment to safeguarding and children/colleague wellbeing.
To ensure that any safeguarding concerns or incidents are reported appropriately in line with policy.
To engage in safeguarding training when required
