Level 2 Food Operative Apprentice

You'll gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced food production environment while studying towards your qualification with Tameside College.

A work trial will be required prior to starting the apprenticeship.

Duration of Apprenticeship Qualification: 12 Month + 3 Months End point Assessments period

Key Responsibilities

As a Food Operative Apprentice, you will:

Prepare, handle, and package food products safely and efficiently. Operate machinery and equipment used in food production. Monitor product quality and report any issues to supervisors. Follow strict hygiene, safety, and food handling standards. Work as part of a team to meet production targets. Maintain a clean and organised work environment. Support continuous improvement and workplace efficiency.

Training and Support

One day per week at Tameside College (Monday release). Dedicated Skills Coach will visit your workplace to assess and carry out observations. Free access to the college gym and enrichment activities. Functional Skills in English and Maths available if GCSE grade 4 has not been achieved.

Requirements

Minimum age: 17 years. GCSE Maths and English at grade 4 or above preferred (not essential). Reliable, punctual, and committed to both work and college attendance. Willing to work early morning shifts. Positive attitude and a strong desire to learn. Apprenticeship Eligibility
