To plan and deliver safe, enjoyable, and progressive gymnastics sessions in line with the club's development framework and the national governing body's coaching standards. The Level 2 or 3 Coach works independently or alongside senior coaches to help gymnasts develop technical ability, confidence, and a lifelong enjoyment of gymnastics.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver structured gymnastics sessions appropriate to the age and ability of participants.
Teach and demonstrate correct gymnastics techniques across a range of apparatus and floor work.
Ensure that all sessions are safe, inclusive, and engaging, following governing body guidelines.
Provide individual feedback and encourage gymnasts to progress through skill levels or award schemes.
Supervise assistant or Level 1 coaches, offering support and guidance during sessions.
Set up, check, and store equipment safely before and after sessions.
Keep accurate attendance, progress, and accident records.
Promote the club's ethos of participation, performance, and enjoyment.
Maintain up-to-date first aid and safeguarding training.
Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other members of the coaching team.
Assist in competitions, displays, and events as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
Level 2 or 3 Gymnastics Coaching Qualification (e.g. British Gymnastics Level 2 or 3 in General, Women's Artistic, Men's Artistic, Acrobatics, or Tumbling).
Current First Aid and Safeguarding / Child Protection certificates.
Experience coaching in a club, school, or community setting.
Sound knowledge of gymnastics progressions, technique, and safety.
Desirable:
Experience coaching gymnasts for competitions or displays.
Additional qualifications in Strength & Conditioning, Dance, or Flexibility Training.
Understanding of child development and motivation in sport.
Membership of the relevant national governing body (e.g., British Gymnastics, IGA).
