We have an opening for a level 3 Forest School Leader to join our team.

Candidates must have a Level 3 Forest School Qualification that has not been gained purely on-line

We feel passionately that every child should be able to connect with nature within a safe, welcoming and friendly environment, developing confidence and self-esteem.

The Role:



To plan and deliver an

organic

Forest School experience to Primary aged children (Reception - Year 6) Sessions will be delivered to all years, on rotation each half term, with a campfire and marshmallows on the last session of each half term Sessions should be planned in advance, while being child-centred, inspirational and focused around the children's interests and fascinations, providing opportunities for learning and skill development Sessions must follow the Forest School Ethos, allowing children to explore, play and take managed risks. Sessions should allow children to develop resilience, problem solving and confidence through hands on experiences, focusing on the "how" of learning rather than just the "what" To liaise effectively with other staff members in a respectful, professional manner to ensure the smooth running of the session To deal with behaviour in a friendly way and inline with our policies and procedures To create a safe, caring and welcoming environment for all children to enjoy Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure Working within the framework of the company's policies and procedures

Initially this role will be a self employed position


Days / Hours:

Currently 1 day available, with the possibility for additional days

Pay:

After initial training period, pay is open to discussion dependent on experience and skill set

Required Skills:



Level 3 Forest School Qualification that has not been gained purely on-line Experience of delivering Forest School sessions, including setting up and use of equipment such as slacklines, fire pit and hammocks Love, respect and enthusiasm for the natural world and sharing this with others Follow and promote our Forest School promise - "Respect it, Protect it, Treasure it" Must have an understanding and ability to recognise, manage and complete risk assessments before and during each session Ability to plan sessions within the Forest School framework and be reflective, flexible and react to in-session changes according to the children's interests A positive attitude Creativity Be able to take initiative, work well within a team and individually Be friendly, approachable and fun Enjoy being active in all weathers Be reliable with excellent timekeeping Want to make a difference to a child's day Be a positive role model Good communication skills Sound judgement and common sense An understanding of the varied needs of children An understanding of the importance of equal opportunities Forest School first aid qualification is desired but not compulsory, but must be prepared to undertake
