Job Title: Nursery Practitioner
Responsible to: Managers: Mrs. L. Jackson and Mrs R.Harris
Purpose of Job: To provide high quality care, play and education for young children in a safe, stimulating environment and work as part of a team under the direction of the Managers.
Main Duties
1. To maintain up to date knowledge of safeguarding procedures and work closely with Deerhurst's Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure child protection is paramount in practice.
2. To plan and implement quality learning and interaction using the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation.
3. To attend staff meetings, in-service training courses and other meetings as
required.
4. To provide an enabling learning environment in which experiences provided respond to children's individual interests and needs.
5. To assist with intimate care routines and bathroom duties, maintaining a high standard of Health and Safety and hygiene at all times.
6. To liaise with parents/carers and maintain positive relationships to ensure each child's needs are recognised and met.
7. To advice Managers of any concerns, e.g. over children, staff, parents or any Health and Safety matters, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
8. To assist in the training of students on placement from schools and colleges, continuously role modelling effective practice.
9. To carry out all responsibilities following Deerhurst's equality and diversity policy and procedures, embedding Fundamental British Values into everyday practices.
10. To work within and comply with agreed policies, practises and procedures.
11. To administer first aid as appropriate.
12. To ensure completion of day to day records and administration documents including - registers, accident/injury records, medication documents and cleaning records.
13. To maintain a good working relationship between staff, parents, students and children. Dealing with any problems in a sensitive, appropriate and confidential manner.
14. To keep completely confidential any information learned as part of the job.
To carry out any other duties as designated by the Managers and/or Deputy.
