Nursery Practitioner

Reporting to: Nursery Manager

To be part of the teaching staff in the day to day running of Dar-ul-Madinah Nursery.
Qualification:
Nursery Assistant NVQ Level 2 & 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent qualification which meets the EYFS requirements

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Support of the children.

To contribute to the preparation and evaluation of learning activities for the children, according to the class teacher's direction. To contribute to the observation and EYFS assessment records of the children's development. To assist children with language development, particularly spoken language, through discussion and storytelling. To engage children in learning activities linked to the curriculum. To assist with children's personal hygiene, toileting and social skills training. To share in the general care, supervision and learning of the children during the session, both indoors and outdoors. To support children with individual needs. To promote the inclusion of all pupils within the Nursery. To support the use of ICT in the classroom. To ensure that that the ethos of the Nursery is implemented. Responsible for key children and their learning journals. To be part of the rota system for different things such as cleaning, sign in and out etc. To prepare materials and displays for the class teacher, and to undertake minor repairs to materials. To provide regular feedback about the children to the Manager. To ensure where practical that the Nursery room is orderly and areas of the room are kept tidy and clearly labelled. To work closely with the staff to contribute to the management of the pupils' positive behaviour.
Support for the Nursery

To develop good relationships with children, parents and other professionals. To be a good role-model and set high standards and have high expectations. To participate in, and prepare for events within normal working hours and on staff training days. To help the supervise the groups of children on educational visits. To attend any staff training sessions that would be relevant or helpful to the duties listed. To be aware of Nursery procedures and follow Nursery policies, including Safeguarding Children. To be aware of confidential issues and to keep confidences appropriately. To contribute to the overall ethos, aims and work of the Nursery To carry out other duties which may from time to time reasonably be required within the general level of responsibility of the post.
GENERAL

To undertake such duties as may be reasonably be required, commensurate with the grade of the post. To be committed to play a full part as a member of a team To undergo any training and development relevant to the satisfactory performance of the job, as required.
