Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Level 3 Practitioner to join our team on a full-time basis, working term time only. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing high-quality early childhood education and care within our nursery setting. You will be responsible for fostering a nurturing environment that supports the development of children, ensuring their safety and well-being while promoting their learning through engaging activities.

Responsibilities



Lead and manage a group of children, ensuring their individual needs are met through tailored educational activities. Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to foster strong relationships and support children's development. Plan and implement age-appropriate learning experiences that encourage exploration, creativity, and social interaction. Observe and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records to inform future planning. Collaborate with team members to create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for all children. Uphold nursery policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations. Support the professional development of junior staff by providing guidance and mentoring as needed.

Experience



A Level 3 qualification in Early Childhood Education or equivalent is essential. Previous experience working in a nursery or childcare setting is highly desirable. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively. Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written. A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their growth and development. Ability to drive initiatives that enhance the learning environment.

Responsible to:



Nursery Manager/Deputy

Main Duties and Responsibilities



1. To be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Nursery.

2. To take part in recruitment and to support a team of staff to meet statutory ratios and include contingency staffing where appropriate.

3. To provide a child-centred environment where children are cared for in a safe, caring and stimulating way that ensures their individual needs are met within a group setting.

4. To ensure the national standards for the registration of childcare are maintained at all times.

5. To implement the Children's Centre's Equal Opportunities Policy in all aspects of the Nursery and other childcare services.

6. To take responsibility for quality assurance and compliance with all applicable legislation, including Health and Safety, within the Nursery environment.

7. To work in partnership with the Early Years Department, local childcare/educational providers, health providers, Sure Start and other Children's centres.

8. To establish and maintain effective working relationships with partner agencies providing services within the Children's Centre area.

9. To develop and review applicable policies and procedures and then to ensure that the Nursery operates within the framework set.

10. To establish and deliver an effective curriculum which includes assessment, planning and evaluation.

11. To ensure the implementation of the EYFS curriculum for all children 0-5 years.

12. To develop and maintain procedures for regular review and assessment of each child's progress in partnership with parents.

13. To implement and manage an effective parent liaison programme, ensuring regular communication and interaction with parents.

14. To receive and deal with complaints positively in accordance with procedures.

15. To work as a valuable member of the Children Centre team and to promote all activities being provided by the Centre.

16. To be responsible for marketing the Nursery through the development and implementation of marketing strategy which includes the promotion of Children's Tax credits and other benefits available to parents.

17. To attend regular supervision, team meetings and training as required by the Children's Centre Head/Manager.

18. To participate in the appraisal process.

Managing Resources



1. To achieve the targets set for occupancy levels by managing capacity, reviewing numbers of children attending and following up enquiries promptly to ensure maximum capacity levels are maintained at all times.

2. To ensure an effective stock control system is established and a register of assets is maintained.

Managing Quality



1. To be responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe and acceptable standard of practice that meets OFSTED criteria.

2. To ensure quality standards, including the implementation of all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

3. To equip the Nursery with suitable materials of a high quality which enhance the Nursery environment.

Managing Information



1. To produce reports and statistical information as required, maintaining high standards of accuracy and confidentiality in record-keeping.

2. To participate in the evaluation of the services offered at the Children's Centre

3. To promote, attend and represent the Children's Centre at appropriate events, conferences, seminars and training.

4. To undertake any other task requested which is commensurate with this role and responsibility.

Education and Training



1. Minimum of a relevant and recognised Level 2 qualification

2. Knowledge of the Children's Act and the National Day Care Standards

3. Experience of working in a multi-agency and multi-disciplinary environment

4. Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities

5. Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS curriculum and implementation.

6. Knowledge of Health & Safety issues and legislation

7. Knowledge of child protection issues and procedures

8. Evidence of ongoing personal development training

9. Desire to continue with professional development

Pay: From 17,399.25 per year
