The Supported Learning Department is seeking a passionate and experienced Level 7 Assessor (Teacher) to support adult learners with diverse needs. You'll deliver and assess high-quality, inclusive teaching tailored to adult learners working towards qualifications in areas such as personal development, employability, or independent living. This role requires a flexible, learner-centred approach and a commitment to promoting progression and independence. You'll hold a relevant Level 7 teaching qualification and Assessor award (e.g. TAQA/CAVA), with experience in adult or supported learning. We have an exciting opportunity at our Openshaw Campus to join our Supported Learning Department as a Level 7 Assessor on a permanent, part-time (17.5 hours per week) basis.

Our Openshaw campus is a vibrant, modern hub of learning, equipped with outstanding, industry-standard facilities designed to inspire both staff and students. Located just outside Manchester city centre, the campus offers a wide range of vocational and academic courses, with specialist spaces for areas such as construction, engineering, health, and digital.

We welcome applications from aspiring teachers who are passionate about sharing their industry skills. At The Manchester College, you will be supported by our Teaching Academy to work towards qualified teacher status for post 16 compulsory education, through a Cert Ed/PGCE. This includes 3-4 hours delivery per week and engagement with a mentor to support your progress in the profession while you work. The starting salary for an unqualified teacher is between 28,300.00 - 30,307.50*. It's a great way to kick-start a rewarding career with full training and support. Once you've successfully qualified and demonstrated your teaching competence, you'll progress to the qualified teacher salary banding.



Consideration will be given to relevant industry experience and skills with the flexibility to offer increased starting salaries in some circumstances.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:


A teaching qualification at Level 5 or above. A specialist Dyslexia/SpLD qualification at level 5 or above, or the ability to achieve this within 12 months of recruitment Also, at least one of the following; + a postgraduate course at or equal to Level 7, including at least 100 hours relating to specialist assessments of learners with Dyslexia/SpLD#, or Exam Access Arrangements
+ A current SpLD Practising Certificate, as awarded by BDA, the Dyslexia Guild, or Patoss and listed on the sASC website
Current and valid industry specialism in SpLD and EAA Assessment Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation) Minimum Level 7 occupational qualification English and maths minimum level 2 Grade C or Grade 4 and above Significant Experience of delivering outstanding teaching and learning and Exam Access Arrangement assessment Proven track record of high-quality inclusive teaching in delivering subject specialism or current valid industry specialism Working as a team Verbal and written communication skills Meet EAA caseload targets and CPD delivery plans Accurate and timely reports and records Positive contribution to team cohesion, consistency of support offer across the different campuses and the future planning processes of the team
