Walter Edmundson Haulage Ltd based in Skelmersdale and are part of the Manx Independent Carriers Group of Companies.

We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced LGV Class 1 Day Driver to join our team based at Skelmersdale.

the role responsibilities include collections and deliveries of full & part loads and groupage from various locations around the UK on a variety of trailers including curtainsided trailers, box trailers, flat trailers, walking floor trailers, tipper trailers and a variety of tanker trailers.

Responsibilities

Operate a variety of trailers to deliver goods to designated locations in a timely manner. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations. Load and unload cargo, ensuring it is secured properly for transport. Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays. Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving on public roads. Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of the vehicle at all times. Occasional nights out and Saturday rota required.

Requirements

Valid commercial driving licence (C+E or equivalent) with a clean driving record. Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role, particularly our variety of trailer types. Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic laws. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude. Physical stamina to handle loading and unloading tasks as required. A good understanding of vehicle maintenance practices is advantageous.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 14.50-21.75 per hour

Expected hours: 50 - 65 per week
