The Role
Reporting to the Deputy Head, Academic, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the school's library and resource centre, as well as managing the entire Senior School's cover system.
Key Responsibilities
1. Librarian Duties
You will manage the library as a multi-use facility that actively encourages reading and independent learning.
Library Management:
Handle the day-to-day running, resource circulation (physical and film library), and management of the library budget.
Resource Development:
Develop and maintain the library management system, constantly refreshing and upgrading stock.
Literacy Promotion:
Work closely with the English Department on reader development projects like World Book Day, book awards, and promoting resources as part of our whole school reading policy.
Facilities & Events:
Manage the environment (liaising with site/domestic teams), ensure all IT/AV equipment is working, and take a lead role in setting up the library for events (e.g., parents' evenings, author visits).
Pupil Supervision:
Supervise pupils in the library, providing a consistent approach to managing behaviour.

2. Cover Supervisor Duties
You will ensure the school's cover system runs smoothly, requiring high levels of organisational skill and attention to detail.
System Management:
Responsible for the day-to-day running of the Senior School Cover System, primarily using
iSAMS
.
Daily Cover:
Deal with emergency cover requests up to
8:20 am
and ensure all classes are covered when a staff member is absent.
Fair Distribution:
Track and ensure that all teaching staff complete a fair and balanced amount of cover across the year (pro-rated for part-timers).
Re-Rooming:
Organise the re-rooming of classes as required, particularly during external exams.

You must be a highly organised, proactive individual with the ability to manage a varied and demanding workload.
Meticulous & Accurate:
Ability to be meticulous, accurate, and pay close attention to detail in all aspects of the role is essential.
Technical Proficiency:
Excellent
ICT skills
are required. Experience with
iSAMS, Excel, Word, and database systems
is a significant advantage.
Self-Management:
Proven ability to work flexibly, plan ahead, and manage your own time and workload to meet tight deadlines.
Team Player:
A willingness to work collaboratively as part of a wider school team.
