Background of department/role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Library Operations team within the Student Life and Library Services department as a Library Adviser at Augustine House, Canterbury.
You will be based in an academic library surrounded by supportive colleagues, offering a range of services, managing differing formats of resources and promoting the variety of learning spaces to support a variety of needs.
As a Library Adviser you will play a key role in providing high quality customer service and support for students, staff and members of the public. On a daily basis you will give advice, in person and via our communication channels, in the use of all facilities and service. You will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills coupled with well-developed problem-solving skills. You will be involved in delivering library orientation activities and attending open days.
You will ensure that the stock is maintained to a high standard and be involved in shelving, stock disposal and support stock projects.
You will have excellent customer service skills and an enthusiasm for library services. You will require excellent IT skills and be involved in the marketing of the service delivering awareness and UX activities as well as contributing to the content creation for the library website. You will have experience of working in a library, information environment or customer focused environment.

be able to evidence that you meet all the essential criteria with examples of how you have met the required skills and evidence of the desirable requirements would also be advantageous.
How will you work?
This is a front-facing service role, classed as an Essential Campus Specialist, therefore staff are expected to be wholly campus based due to their specialist nature or the need to provide in person services.
Shift patterns are organised over a two-week rota.
