It isn't just our talented and experienced Social Workers who have a key role to play in supporting some of the most vulnerable children in our society. Behind them are highly organised and effective teams, of which our Library and Information Service Team is an integral component.




As a

Library and Information Service Officer

you will provide and supervise outstanding front-line service delivery of a remote-access Library and Information Service for all Cafcass staff and partners.


Although we are able to work flexibly and remotely,

there will be an expectation of travel to the London office at least once a week

to help manage the library's physical collection. You will also be required to attend the office every day during your first week for induction.

Should you join us your tasks will include:



Managing requests for library items from Cafcass staff and external partners Managing and undertaking complex literature searches and research evidence scopes in response to internal and external enquiries, utilising a range of peer-reviewed resources and databases Selecting, procuring, cataloguing and classifying new library materials Systems management of the Library Management System software, and using such systems to provide analysis on usage of the system, identifying trends and reporting statistics to inform decision-making Deputising for the Library and Information Service Manager when required

...and what we're looking for:



Recent experience in information services Either working towards, or in possession of, a library/information studies qualification Experience of working with social sciences information sources and advising on information retrieval for staff is desirable Good technical skills, with experience of database management, including Library Management Systems and IT literacy in the use of Microsoft 365 applications Ability to deliver training and presentations
