Imperial College London Library is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Library Assistant to join our team at Chelsea and Westminster Campus Library.
The role focuses on front-line support, providing a high quality, inclusive library service to the Imperial College London community, NHS staff and other visitors
What you would be doing
---------------------------
You will be responsible for answering general enquiries, providing membership services and keeping the library operating smoothly and safely.
Some of the key activities include:
Welcoming library users, assisting them (in person and via a variety of online platforms such as email and chat services) in the use of library services, resources and equipment, using initiative and expertise to solve queries and issues or triage to other staff as necessary.
Registering new and renewing existing users, issuing and returning of books and other items, and ensuring appropriate user behaviour in the library.
Shelving and tidying the book stock and other stock management activities such as withdrawals and stock checks.
What we are looking for
---------------------------
You will have at least 5 GCSE's grade A-C or equivalent qualifications and experience working in front line roles, ideally in library services but not essential.
Good communication and interpersonal skills and familiarity with computer systems and basic MS Office applications are essential to this role.
Experience in the use of automated library systems or computerised systems in other service environments would be an advantage.

Full time, permanent position
35 hours per week Monday-Friday 09.00-17.00. You will also be required to work 10.00 - 18.00 on some days to cover the hand over with the evening staff
This is frontline, site-based position and not suitable for home or hybrid working.
