Medway Libraries are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and customer focused Library Manager to lead our library at Chatham Community Hub on a fixed term basis until July 2026.
Our Library Managers work in the heart of our communities and play an integral role in developing and delivering our library services, working with colleagues across the authority and local partners to deliver dynamic and customer focused library services that meet the needs of local communities.
As Library Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of staff ensuring that excellent customer service is delivered to all library customers. Using your excellent communication and people management skills, you will ensure that team members feel supported in their roles, guiding training and development for your staff while continuing to broaden your own knowledge and identifying opportunities to develop service operations. You will oversee day-to-day activity in both libraries including dealing with property issues, ensuring health and safety policy is adhered to, and managing customer comments, compliments, and complaints.
Medway's Libraries and Community Hubs are an essential component of the council's cultural offer - working with other managers, librarians and council teams, you will also use your networking skills to build and develop local partnerships to boost library use, drive cultural engagement, support local health and wellbeing initiatives and ensure that libraries sit at the heart of Medway's communities.
