Job Description

The

Library & Think Space Host

at 40 Leadenhall is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the Library and Think Space, ensuring a welcoming, well-presented, and engaging environment for all customers and guests. This role involves the efficient organization of the book collection, maintaining the online catalogue, facilitating borrowing and returns, auditing the collection, and curating creative displays aligned with themes and events.



Beyond the operational aspects, the Host plays an active role in driving engagement -- including hosting a bi-weekly book club, facilitating writing workshops, and delivering a calendar of engaging events and activations designed to inspire the community. As the visible "face" of the Library and Think Space, the Host takes ownership of the space, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere where visitors feel encouraged to explore, connect, and contribute.



Success in this role requires strong organizational abilities, a genuine interest in literature and ideas, and reasonable tech proficiency to navigate the tools needed for catalogue and event management. The role is best suited to someone who can work with autonomy, show initiative, and contribute to continuous improvement while supporting the wider Guest Services team in enhancing the overall guest experience.

Type of contract: Part-time, Permanent

Hours: 32 per week (Monday-Friday; shift rota basis between 7 AM and 7 PM, with flexibility as per business needs)

Main responsibilities



Library & Collection Management. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Library and Think Space. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date online catalogue. Facilitate borrowing, returns, and auditing of the collection. Curate, refresh, and present engaging book displays aligned with themes and events. Community Engagement & Events. Host a bi-weekly book club to encourage discussion and participation. Facilitate writing workshops and other creative sessions. Design and deliver engagement events and activations that enrich the customer and guest experience. Collaborate with the wider Guest Services team to align events with building-wide initiatives. Space Presentation & Experience Ensure the Library and Think Space remain welcoming, tidy, and inspiring at all times. Act as the visible "face" of the Library and Think Space, creating a warm and inclusive environment for all visitors. Take ownership of the overall atmosphere, proactively addressing any issues that impact presentation or guest experience. Team & Operational Contribution Work independently with self-direction while contributing to the success of the wider Guest Services team. Support continuous improvement efforts, offering ideas to elevate services and engagement.
