Details of the Role:



To provide technical/administrative support to Senior Licensing Officers and the Team Leader To assist and participate in the advisory and enforcement activities including visits to sites, premises and checking of notices. To deal with initial contact with customers and to give specialist licensing advice and information when required. Ability to interpret legislation, research legislation and case law and understand its relevancy when dealing with applications and enquiries or complaints. To cover the duty officer role as and when necessary - delivering a high standard of first point of contact services to customers wishing to access services delivered by the licensing authority. To identify the specific issue of the customer and resolve issues that are within the post holder's skills and knowledge set or, where this is not the case, refer the specific issue to the relevant officer or service for action. To deal with incoming demand via a number of access channels including post, telephone, email, online portals and internet. To represent Walsall Council and partner organisations ensuring a good standard of customer service at all times. To administer applications for new and renewal of licences, permits and registrations. To issue licences, update public registers and maintain registers. To have a good level of understanding and experience of the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, legislation relating to the Hackney Carriage & Private Hire trade, Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 and other legislation relevant to the licensing service.

You Will need:



Licensing Practitioners qualifications within licensing. Good general education including 2 GSCEs or equivalent in English and maths OR Equivalent level 2 qualifications on the national qualification's framework including English and maths Minimum 2 years experience within the field of Licensing Driving License is not required, but desirable

BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
