Your primary focus will be on generating revenue by identifying and securing licensing deals, negotiating contracts, and managing key relationships with licensees. This role requires excellent sales and negotiation skills, and the ability to identify and capitalise on licensing opportunities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Develop and execute the licensing sales strategy to maximize revenue and expand the reach of our publishing house across various product categories.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by researching, prospecting, and pitching potential licensing partners.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with licensees, retailers, and other key stakeholders to drive sales and ensure successful partnerships.
  • Negotiating licensing contracts, terms, and product specifications, ensuring alignment with company objectives and brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including editorial, marketing, legal, commercial sales and creative, to ensure proper execution of licensing agreements and brand representation.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and consumer insights to identify new licensing opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Develop and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals to potential licensees, showcasing the value and potential of our brands.
  • Forecast and track licensing sales performance, analyse data, and provide regular reports to senior management, highlighting progress and areas for improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant licensing regulations, copyright laws, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and protect intellectual property.
  • Collaborate with the legal team to review and advise on licensing contracts, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and risk mitigation.
  • Manage a team of licensing sales and account professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to achieve sales targets and departmental goals.
  • Create a high-level strategic relationship with existing licensees through and with the existing account team.
  • Ensure that all opportunities to develop wider Hearst partnerships are developed and dealt with in collaboration with various Hearst teams.
  • Proactively develop opportunities with your team to improve productivity through technology advancements such as AI and share your learnings with key stakeholders within the business.
ABOUT YOU
  • Proven experience in licensing sales within the licensing or publishing industry.
  • Strong understanding of licensing practices, contract negotiation, and intellectual property rights.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills with a track record of successfully closing partnership deals and achieving revenue targets.
  • Solid knowledge of the publishing landscape, market trends, and consumer preferences.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalize on licensing opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in data analysis and forecasting.
  • Leadership qualities with experience in managing and motivating a sales team.
