An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy Licensing Team as a Strategy & Policy Officer.
As a member of the Taxi Licensing and Sports Grounds & Events Team, you will ensure that the statutory functions of the Council are maintained and enforced efficiently and effectively.
In addition, you will be involved in the Council's approach to the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act, known as Martyn's Law.
Duties will include delivering an efficient and effective service responsive to the needs of the public within the statutory provisions, preparing reports, overseeing relevant service policies and strategies, budget management and income generation, staff management and the management of queries and complaints as well as other duties as detailed in the job description.
This includes:

  • Attending relevant committees
  • Reviewing service plans and managing the strategic direction of the service
  • Working in partnership with other services and stakeholders
  • Working with elected members to assist in delivery the council&s vision
  • Attending court
  • Monitor and assist in the enforcement of the legislation
You must have a sound knowledge and experience of the relevant legislation and the ability to read and interpret the law to ensure the service carries out all its statutory functions to the highest standard. The role includes unsociable and extended hours, and you will occasionally be required to work weekends and bank holidays. You will also provide cover for the Licensing (General) team as required.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide pay slip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
