WHAT TO EXPECT

The purpose of this role is to lead the early mechanical concept design of Exterior and Interior Lighting systems and to collaborate on the vehicle packaging and surface development for Lighting systems on new vehicle programmes.

The role will involve utilising virtual engineering tools to create, develop and integrate Lighting concept engineering designs and aid issue resolution within cross-functional Agile Squads. Reporting into a Group Leader, the role requires the individual to deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time constraints and to lead the technical integrity of lighting components across specific programmes.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for concept development and problem resolution with both Core and Programme teams, with the use of virtual engineering tools
  • Carry out Exterior and Interior Lighting mechanical component development and feasibility analysis during early design maturation in support vehicle package development, concept lamp development and lamp component sourcing.
  • Ensure that lighting 3D data meets JLR quality requirements and that Tier 1 suppliers provide robust models to meet internal gateways up to and including final data judgement sign off, and support Lead Engineers with rectification of issues.
  • Manage the creation Associative Vehicle Architecture models and development of appropriate standards
  • Resolve issues with component engineering, vehicle attribute teams and design teams to develop mechanical and optical solutions that meet targets.
  • Ensure all programme design solutions meet:
  • Legal regulations and JLR requirements
  • Optical Quality and Premium Consumer Product Audit (PCPA) requirements.
WHAT YOU NEED
  • Experience of using virtual engineering design and analysis tools
  • Technical and practical knowledge of Body Engineering commodities
  • Previous programme delivery experience, with strong influencing and engagement skills
  • Experience of concept generation and cross functionality problem resolution
