A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LINEN PORTER AT THE MILNER YORK
What you'll be doing...
Collect, distribute and replenish clean linen to housekeeping floors, service areas and departments as required
Remove soiled linen and transport it safely to designated laundry areas
Assist with the organisation and rotation of linen stock to ensure availability and quality
Ensure linen cupboards and storage areas are kept clean, tidy and well organised
Follow correct manual handling procedures when lifting and transporting linen
Adhere to health & safety, COSHH and infection control procedures at all times
Support the Housekeeping team during peak periods, including weekends and holidays
  • Report any maintenance issues or missing items promptly to keep rooms in top shape.
  • Follow health, safety, and cleanliness standards, helping maintain a safe environment for guests and team members.
  • Support with special requests, like setting up extra beds or delivering extra amenities, going the extra mile to make each stay memorable.
  • Work closely with other departments, especially the front desk and maintenance, to deliver a seamless guest experience.
