Oracle Advertising (formerly Oracle Data Cloud) is one of the leading suppliers of advertising technology and data. You will be building the first of a new suite of products which bridge the worlds of contextual and audience based advertising. Primarily based out of our Colorado campus, you will also get to work closely with our teams in Cambridge, England. Working on solutions employing machine learning, data science, natural language processing, information retrieval, as well as cloud hosted and highly available services at scale.
As a linguistic engineer, you will work with a team of specialists that designs, edits and maintains a taxonomy that produces 3 Trillion categorizations of web pages per month, in 30+ languages. You will be helping evaluate the quality and performance of our categorizations, working with a team of software engineers to develop tool sets for managing and testing categorizations, and optimizing team processes both internally and with third parties as part of an Agile organization.
As part of a team, build and maintain a taxonomy of 700+ classification segments containing words in 30+ languages.
Help develop the tools required, and set processes, to assist editors in maintaining and improving the accuracy of categories used in classifying texts.
Overview and ownership of text acquisition and morphological parsing (also known as word stemming) and analysis with an understanding sufficient to diagnose technical issues.
Working with a blended Agile team of developers and linguists to automate and accelerate text classification techniques and processes.
Work with 3rd party contractors by providing sufficient training and support
Proven track record of academic excellence. MA or above in linguistics, language studies, Philosophy, computer science or similar preferable but not required.
Ability to speak multiple languages fluently.
Excellent analytic skills. Takes a data driven approach to problem solving.
Experience in taxonomy or ontology design, natural language processing, Python scripting, and/or machine learning in NLP.
An excellent communicator, able to work in a diverse team in a fast-changing environment.
