Job Overview


We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Systems Administrator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimising our IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operation of all systems and applications. This role requires a strong understanding of various technologies, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to providing outstanding customer service.

Duties



Manage and maintain Windows servers and workstations, ensuring optimal performance and security. Maintain and support Linux-based servers (Debian/Ubuntu/ preferred) Work with virtualization platforms, especially VMware vCenter Deploy and troubleshoot Docker containers and manage related services Help build and maintain internal and client-facing infrastructure Set up and manage networking (DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs) Monitor systems, handle updates and patching, and respond to incidents Provide on-site networking support Collaborate with a technical team on infrastructure design and improvements Configure and manage DNS settings to ensure reliable network connectivity. Provide technical support to users, addressing issues promptly and effectively while maintaining a high level of customer service. Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency. Collaborate with other IT team members to identify areas for improvement within the infrastructure. Maintain documentation for systems configurations, processes, and procedures.

Experience



What We're Looking For

You don't need to be a guru -- if you understand how Linux works, have tinkered with Docker, and know your way around a terminal and a network switch, you're already speaking our language. Here's what we'd love:

Must-Haves:

Full UK Driving License

Solid Linux knowledge and comfortable with CLI (Bash, SSH, systemd, etc.)

Working experience with Docker and container-based workflows

Familiarity with vCenter / ESXi or similar virtualization tools

Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, DNS, firewalls)

Can troubleshoot services like NGINX, Apache, MySQL/PostgreSQL

You document your work and don't leave things half-done

Willingness to learn new technologies

Passion for technology and drive to get better in it

Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or in a similar IT role.

Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and server management. Familiarity with AWS services and cloud computing concepts. Proficiency in SQL database management and troubleshooting. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to non-technical users. Experience with office productivity tools such as Excel is advantageous. A customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality IT support.
