About Apple TV Sports



The ASE Live Stream Engineering team powers the live sports experience on the Apple TV app, delivering high-quality, reliable streams for events like MLS Season Pass, Friday Night Baseball, and, starting in 2026, Formula 1 in the US. We are looking for a Live Stream Broadcast Systems Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in shaping the future of live sports streaming.

As a Live Stream Broadcast Systems Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the design, implementation, and operation of our live streaming platform, ensuring exceptional quality and reliability for millions of viewers. You will leverage your expertise in broadcast engineering and IP video delivery to solve complex challenges, optimise workflows, and drive innovation across the entire live streaming ecosystem. You will configure and tune systems, lead investigations into technical issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver world-class live sports experiences.



This role will require occasional after-hours and weekend support.

Work closely with Apple's networking teams to contribute to the development of the next generation of our global content acquisition and distribution network, optimising performance and reliability.


Troubleshoot complex video delivery issues across the entire streaming workflow.

Collaborate with other teams to drive the development and implementation of new live streaming features.

Develop and maintain documentation for live streaming workflows, systems, and procedures.

Collaborate with support teams to develop clear and concise communication regarding critical issues for leadership and stakeholders.

Troubleshoot complex integrations with partners and vendors.

Identify opportunities for automation and optimisation within the live streaming workflow, improving efficiency and reducing operational overhead.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree Computer Science/Broadcast Engineering or equivalent related experience.

Ability to effectively work with cross functional teams to understand requirements and design of highly performant video and media delivery systems.

Deep understanding of live production technologies and buildout of data centres focused on live broadcast systems.

Experience designing and building IP networks for video transport (J2K, JPXS, MPEG, SRT, HLS Compression Protocols).

Expertise with live streaming encoding technologies (e.g., AWS Elemental MediaLive, Harmonic, ATEME).

Experience with cloud-based video workflows and platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Familiar with SCTE-35/104 and SCTE-224/ESNI.

Familiarity with SMPTE 2110 networks.

Experience with broadcast command and control integration.

Experience with video monitoring tools (Video and transport quality monitoring).

Experience working on data pipelines for log collection and monitoring.

Experience with 4k, HDR and ATMOS in live transmission and streaming environments.

Experience with issue tracking and technical documentation.

Familiar with data interchange formats (XML, JSON)

Scripting experience (Python, Bash)

Familiar with RESTful API utilization and debugging.

Deep understanding of HLS and SRT live streaming protocol.

Experience with git and Infrastructure as Code

Minimum Qualifications

Self motivated, self starter.

Familiarity with sports production workflows and technologies.

Expertise designing, integrating and operating broadcast infrastructure.
