Our Local Community Co-ordination programme is transforming the way we work with and supporting people in local communities - helping people to create their own practical solutions within inclusive and supportive communities.
Bridgend Council believes in the strength and contribution that all local people can make to build a positive vision for the communities within the County Borough. We are looking for exceptional individuals who can combine a passion for their local community, with a commitment to working alongside people in very practical ways - always looking for local solutions through the networks and resources that exist within the community.
Each Local Community Coordinator will work with people and their families, helping people plan, organise and access a range of practical and personalised, flexible and responsive support and services that enhance their participation in, and contribution to, local communities.
As a qualified and experienced professional, you will support referrals of individuals, young people, vulnerable adults, people with disabilities and carers who present with wide-ranging difficulties and issues. You will use your extensive knowledge of community resources to tailor individual support which builds resilience and promotes wellbeing. You will work alongside a range of people with a variety of needs, their families and their communities and
Be committed to enhancing the lives of all people by developing opportunities that meet needs in communities and connecting people to them.
Have the capacity to use your communication and negotiation skills to build and nurture relationships at a personal and community level.
Be committed to building inclusive communities and promoting equity and fairness of opportunity
Have knowledge of issues facing a range of vulnerable people, for example people with disabilities, mental health needs, sensory impairments, older people, their families and communities.
Be capable of analysing issues and reaching creative solutions with people.
The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
An Enhanced Children and Adults Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
The council's Hybrid Working Policy applies to this post. This provides a framework for establishing how you will undertake working hours between your home and the office.
