An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed person to work in a busy and technical area of activity, which involves considerable customer contact, and where teamwork is vital.
The Council Tax Section is a front line service, responsible for administering the Authority's 89,000 Council Tax accounts.
The successful applicant will be part of a team that determines, and actions, amendments to council tax liability arising from changes in property occupation and ownership as well as entitlement to the wide range of statutory discounts and exemptions provided for in Council Tax law. Duties will also include dealing with enquiries in relation to liability and recovery action in respect of unpaid accounts.
It is essential that he or she will the ability to develop a detailed technical knowledge of Council Tax legislation, procedures and systems, and the confidence to organise and prioritise their own workload and also give support and advice with regard to complex cases, and provide support to the Council Tax team when needed.
The successful applicant will work as part of a team but will also work off their own initiative and be an important contributor to the future development of the Local Taxation Team
