An opportunity has arisen for an experienced research or mental health nurse to join the Research Department full time at NSFT as a Locality Research Nurse. This roles will work within the clinical research nursing team to support the set-up and delivery of national clinical trials and other intervention and observation studies, focused on the areas of mental health and dementia. This post is funded by the NIHR Research Delivery Network and is available until 31st March 2026, with the expectation that the contract may be extended.
The post holder will be expected to work autonomously across the West Suffolk Locality and parts of the East Suffolk and West Norfolk Localities with service users, carers and staff, under supervision from the Trust Lead Research Nurse. The role may suit an experienced community mental health nurse looking for a new challenge in research, or an existing research nurse looking to broaden their skills in a new clinical field.
The post will be based at Bury St Edmunds (Wedgwood House) and the expectation is that the post holder will travel independently to participants homes and clinical team bases when required across the Localities, with travel occasionally further afield.

You will be helping to support the delivery of the portfolio of high quality NIHR research from young children through to older adults. On a daily basis you will be responsible for all aspects of the research process including but not limited to: engaging with clinical teams, assessing participant suitability for studies; screening and recruiting research participants; obtaining informed consent, performing study procedures, working with research teams and managing study data. A crucial aspect of the role is to provide a holistic and person-centred care approach to participants and their family supporters in a respectful, empowering way.
It is also essential that you can independently plan and prioritise your complex workload to meet performance targets and deadlines.
