Locomotive Technician (Electrical)

to join our team at

Barrow Hill Depot / Worksop Traincare & Traction Depot

.

The role requires the ability to work proactively to maintain and repair Company Third Party Assets (Our amazing Locomotives). We are looking for Technicians who have experience in installation and fault finding within Locomotive electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

: -

Undertake maintenance, repair, fault finding and modifications of locomotive fleet including, but not limited to Class 08, Class 20, Class 37, Class 47, and Class 56 and rolling stock, ensuing it is carried out to the highest standards in accordance with company policy, industry, and rail group standards.

Diagnosis and repair of DC Traction systems, generators, alternators, low-voltage and control circuits

Ensure that any electrical modifications are implemented to the procedure supplied, ensuring any inaccuracies or improvements required are raised and acted upon. Be pro active with regards to any areas of improvement identified.

Carry out routine electrical examination work to the highest standards.

Be able to work alone and use initiative when carrying out electrical work.

Manage, and adhere to all safety notices, rules and regulations.

Ensure excellent standards of housekeeping are maintained in relation to safe systems of work and company best practice.

Work with the senior management team to identify areas of improvement relating to the locomotive fleet.

To mentor and work alongside electrical apprentices ensuring they are supported on their journey to become electrical engineers.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience (Essential/Desirable)

: -

Good understanding of OTDR GSMR and TPWS systems
A team player and excellent communicator.

Time served in an electrical discipline.

A demonstratable record of electrical fault finding and carrying out modifications on locomotives.

Good standard of Mathematics and English.

Previous experience of Traction and/or Rolling Stock.

An understanding of the rail industry.

Pay: 45,000.00-55,000.00 per year
