About the Role
We Are Care are proud to be working in partnership with Essex County Council's
Family Time (Supervised Contact Service)
to recruit an experienced
Child and Family Support Worker
.
You will play a vital role in supervising, supporting, and facilitating contact sessions between children in local authority care and their birth families. The work is varied, emotionally rewarding, and directly contributes to positive outcomes for children and young people.
The role also offers the opportunity to support wider social work teams, contributing to targeted interventions and helping ensure children's safety, wellbeing, and development.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and facilitate safe, meaningful family contact sessions.
Build strong, trusting relationships with children, young people, and families.
Provide practical, personal, and emotional support tailored to assessed needs.
Work closely with social workers and partner agencies (e.g. schools, health services).
Attend meetings, reviews, and court hearings as required, providing accurate reports.
Act promptly to safeguard children, escalating concerns appropriately.
Maintain accurate case records in line with policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
RQF Level 3 (A Level / NVQ / BTEC) or equivalent experience.
Strong track record of working directly with children and families in challenging circumstances.
Knowledge of the Children's Act 1989 & 2004 and safeguarding best practice.
Ability to work with resilience in emotionally demanding situations.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable:
First Aid certificate and/or Sign Language skills.
Experience in supervised contact or family support settings.
Core Hours
Monday-Thursday: 9:00am - 5:30pm
Friday: 9:00am - 4:30pm(Some evenings/weekends may be required to meet service needs)
