Key Responsibilities:
Provide high-quality clinical care within your specialty, managing both inpatient and outpatient services.
Participate in clinical teaching and training of junior doctors and medical students.
Lead ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Offer on-call services and cover emergency shifts as required.
Ensure timely and effective diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients.
Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of clinical services within the Trust.
Collaborate with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and other specialties to deliver integrated patient care.
Maintain accurate patient records, adhering to NHS standards and data protection guidelines.
Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
Medical Degree (MBBS/MBChB or equivalent) - Essential
Full Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) - Essential
Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in relevant specialty or CESR - Essential
Full inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in your specialty - Essential
Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP)/Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) or equivalent - Desirable
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification - Essential
Experience:
Significant consultant-level experience in the relevant specialty, including managing complex clinical cases.
Evidence of teaching, supervision, and mentoring junior medical staff.
Experience working as part of multidisciplinary teams.
Experience with research and audit projects - Desirable
Skills and Knowledge:
Up-to-date clinical knowledge and expertise in your specialty, including current protocols and guidelines.
Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
Effective leadership and communication skills.
Ability to manage emergency clinical situations confidently.
Commitment to patient safety and quality improvement.
Familiarity with NHS IT systems and protocols.
Additional Requirements:
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including on-call duties.
Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Willingness to engage in continuing professional development (CPD) and revalidation.
Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, challenging clinical environment.
