Job Description

Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust wish to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and cheerful Diabetes and Endocrinology Consultant to join their multidisciplinary team. The Homerton Hospital has an excellent reputation on social media with junior doctors attracting the highest calibre of trainee, and high-quality consultants.



This recruitment is part of the Trust's planned expansion of the department. We are looking for forward-thinking individuals to help us continue to deliver a high standard service and develop it further. The role initially comprises of 10 programmed activities (PAs) consisting of inpatient and outpatient duties with on call commitments . The postholder will be involved in the development of the service, and as a result their job plan, over time.



The successful candidate will provide specialist expertise in Endocrinology and Diabetes.



On taking up the post this consultant will take part in 4 outpatient clinics each week in addition to inpatient general medicine work and on call commitments. The post holder will be expected to participate in the general medicine rota initially 1:15. Acute medicine is provided by 15 General Physicians.



The trust sees the role developing over time to suit the special interests of the successful candidate.

Person Specification



Qualifications:



Essential



On GMC's specialist register for Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine or a Specialist Registrar who is within 6 months of being admitted to the GMC's specialist register by date of interview

MRCP (or equivalent)



Desirable



Higher degree relevant to Endocrinology, diabetes or General internal medicine



Relevant experience in speciality

Essential



Clinical training and extensive experience in Endocrinology and Diabetes



Clinical training and extensive experience in General internal medicine



Leadership and professionalism

Ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and respond appropriately to service need
